Critics Choice Awards: Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neha Dhupia, Konkona Sen Sharma and other stars attended the ceremony.
The Critics Choice Awards were announced with a ceremony in Mumbai on Thursday. While the winners have not been shared online or with the general public yet, pictures of celebrities arriving at the event are here. In attendance were stars such as Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Konkona Sen Sharma and others. Samantha arrived on the red carpet in a black and green dress. She tied her hair in a messy do and flashed a big smile for the camera. She arrived in Mumbai on Thursday morning, specially for the event.
Also spotted was Konkona, looking extra glam in her black pant-suit. She was nominated for her performance in Netflix anthology, Ajeeb Daastaans. She played a lesbian Dalit who works at a factory and falls for another woman.
Also spotted was actor Neha Dhupia. She posed for pictures in a black and silver outfit. Aparshakti Khurana was the host for the evening and even shared a picture on Instagram of his outfit for the night. Jackie Shroff, Neena Gupta also attended.
Earlier in the day, as Samantha arrived at the Mumbai airport, paparazzi greeted her with compliments. She smiled as one photographer called her ‘so gorgeous’. Another asked her if she knew how to speak in Hindi. She said, ‘thoda thoda (a little).”
Samantha was nominated for her performance in last year’s Family Man season 2. She played a Tamil rebel named Raji, who goes head-to-head against the show’s protagonist, played by Manoj Bajpayee. Samantha earned a lot of appreciation from fans, critics and her industry colleagues for her work in the show.
She will soon make her international film debut with Arrangements of Love. The film will be directed by Philip John of Downton Abbey fame. She will play a bisexual Tamil woman running her own detective agency in the film. Speaking with Variety she said, “I am excited to work with Philip John, whose projects I have closely followed for many years, being a big fan of Downton Abbey. I am looking forward to collaborating with Sunitha once again and I hope for only more success than we previously had with Oh! Baby. My role is a complex character and it will be both a challenge and an opportunity for me to play it. I cannot wait to get on set.”
She will also be seen in Shakuntalam and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaatha.
