Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on trauma of his newborn son’s death

‘It was probably the most difficult moment in my life’: Emotional Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on trauma of newborn son’s death earlier this year in tell-all interview with Piers Morgan… as Man United star reveals he ‘talks to the ashes all the time’

Cristiano Ronaldo has described the death of his newborn son as the ‘worst moment’ of his life in the latest reveal of his tell-all interview with Piers Morgan.

The Portugal captain and partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28, tragically revealed that their newborn son, named Angél, had died during birth on April 18, but his twin daughter Bella survived.

‘Probably the worst moment I passed through in my life since my father died,’ Ronaldo is heard telling Morgan in the latest clip shared from his TalkTV interview, which airs in full on Wednesday and Thursday.

‘When you have a kid you expect everything will be normal and when you have a problem it’s hard.

‘Me and Gio (Georgina) had difficult moments. It was very, very difficult to understand what is going on in that period of my life.

‘The football don’t stop, we had many competitions. It was probably the most difficult moment in my life.’

Ronaldo added that he keeps Angél’s ashes close to those of his father’s, who passed away of liver failure in 2005, at a chapel in his home.

‘You know they help me to be a better man, to be a better person, to be a better father.

‘And it’s something that I am really proud of… the message that they send me, especially my son.’

Ronaldo becomes emotional during the discussion with Morgan about the tragedy and goes on to add how he cried alongside his eldest child, Cristiano Jnr, when breaking the news of Angél’s death to the other children.

‘The kids start to say “where’s the other baby, where’s the other baby?”‘ he explains, before adding that he wanted to be honest as they worked through the grieving process.
