Cris Cyborg calls out Amanda Nunes after UFC 269 loss

Cris Cyborg calls for her rematch against Amanda Nunes on Twitter after the co-main event of UFC 269

After being absolutely shocked in the co-main event of UFC 269, the former UFC women’s featherweight champion and current UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes, appears to have a challenger.

Immediately after Julianna Pena was officially crowned as the new UFC women’s featherweight champion former UFC women’s featherweight champion and current Bellator women’s featherweight champion, Cris “Cyborg” Justino, took to Twitter to respond to her former rivals loss.

“congrats. @venezuelanvixen #CyborgvsNunes2,” she tweeted.

A cross-promotional bout could be huge for both Bellator and UFC

Justino has been calling for a rematch with Nunes since their first bout in 2019. The first bout was at UFC 232, a bout which Nunes won via first-round knockout. In the time since that fight, both women have evolved as fighters and become even bigger stars.

Justino is 5-0 since that bout, with three wins via knockout and one via submission. Justino signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA back in 2019 after the UFC and Justino decided to not negotiate an extension on her contract with them. She won the Bellator women’s featherweight championship in her first fight with the company and has been a dominant champion in the two years since then. Her last title defense was against Sinead Kavanagh in November, a fight that Justino won in the first round via knockout.

The biggest hurdle for this fight, of course, is the fact that Justino is currently signed with Bellator on a multi-fight deal. The logistical and contractual nightmare booking this fight alone would create could alone keep the bout from happening. However, Justino appeared to have kept her bridges to the UFC intact when she left in 2019, which could make negotiations easier.
