Due to its strong core mechanics, popular esports scene, and thriving digital economy of in-game items, the player count has continued to grow year after year. That’s the reason why it always seemed unlikely that Valve would release a new version of such a successful and still-growing game.
Nevertheless, rumors of a potential ‘CS:GO 2’ surfaced when executable files for it were discovered in an NVIDIA driver update, and a report by Richard Lewis all but confirmed the release of a Counter-Strike 2 beta in March. This report has now been confirmed and Counter-Strike 2 is coming soon.
The updated version is expected to come with revamped maps, enhanced lighting, modifications to smoke grenades, and a new sub-tick server system, replacing the previous tick-rate system.
Moreover, it has been confirmed that skins and other items from players’ inventory in the original CS:GO game will carry over to the updated version, and they will also benefit from the improved lighting.
