Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, will be observed on Monday, June 20. Will Costco be open?
Juneteenth is a holiday observed to commemorate when Union Army Major General Gordon Granger told slaves in Galveston, Texas that they are emancipated on June 19, 1865. Even though it was celebrated since 1865, it did not become a federal holiday until 2021, when President Joe Biden signed a bill into law. It was also the first federal holiday created since Martin Luther King Jr. Day back in 1983.
In 2022, Juneteenth will be observed on Monday, June 20. If you were wondering if places of business will be open that day, specifically Costco, we have the answer for you.
Is Costco open on Juneteenth?
When looking at Costco’s official website, Juneteenth is not listed as one of their holiday closures. Yet, we would recommend giving your local store a call just to make sure they are open.
Costco has seven holidays listed where they will not be open. Those include New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
For those wondering, the department store chain appears to be open on Juneteenth.
