He had allegedly told Shivinder Singh’s wife, Aditi, that her husband would meet the same fate of many industrialists who were in jail for years awaiting trial and that their children who were abroad would be harmed, the people said, citing the claims in her complaint with the Delhi Police.
According to the FIR, Aditi Singh has claimed that she had become so traumatised that she had seriously contemplated taking her own life on two occasions. The man, named Abhinav, continued to call, coax, induce threats and weave stories to ensure that a constant stream of money was delivered to him through the sale of jewellery, silver and investments.
He also instilled fear in her mind so that she would not discuss it with her husband or anyone else, according to the FIR.
Aditi Singh stated that she was extremely terrified with the intimidations, which continued till the lockdown in April 2021. By this time over Rs 200 crore had been paid, raising the money also by selling children’s assets as well as through loans taken from family and friends on the excuse of legal bills, mounting expenses and children’s education, the FIR said.
