Clive Barker was a coach till the very end, his sons say
Barker, who was living with Dementia, died over the weekend.

JOHANNESBURG – Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker’s sons have told mourners that their father was a coach until the end.
Barker, who was living with Dementia, died over the weekend.
John Barker said his father had always been positive and strived to make an impact on people’s lives.

“He was a coach right up to the end. When I said goodbye to him, he said ‘hug me’ and he said to ‘tell the boys’, his grandkids ‘to keep fighting and keep working hard’. We love you,dad. See you on the far post.”
Gavin Barker remembered how his father celebrated his on-the-pitch victories.
“In 1982, Durban City won the league and to celebrate they wanted to watch a movie called Escape to Victory. But under apartheid laws, black and coloured players were not allowed to watch. A special arrangement was made for them to watch the movie. Those are small things, but I believe my father played a role in breaking barriers.”
