Classless or Captain Courageous? Wasim Jaffer ‘fixes’ Fox Sports’ headline about Virat Kohli’s trumpet celebration

The Indian cricket team made sure to make a strong comeback after the Leed’s loss and got an emphatic victory over England at The Oval.

Soon after the win, Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s ‘trumpet’ celebrations at The Oval in London got many netizens to question his actions. However, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has come forward and defended Kohli. In fact, he even went on to ‘fix’ Fox Sports’ headline about the celebration.

Throughout this summer, The Barmy Army, the renowned union of English cricket fans, had used the trumpet to celebrate the times when England was ahead or doing well.

So Kohli’s trumpet celebration was actually for The Barmy Army, which did not sit well with many. Fox had put up an article and had termed Kohli’s celebration as classless.

However, Jaffer responded to it and wrote, “Captain Courageous: World applauds as Virat Kohli’s team brings dead game to life and scripts historic win. Here fixed it for you @FoxCricket.”

As for the Barmy Army, they took Kohli’s celebrations in a lighthearted manner and even shared a picture of him on Twitter.

The caption read, “Yes we know you want to be in the army Virat. We get the hint.”

Meanwhile, the Indian team has reached Manchester where they will be playing their fifth and final Test at Old Trafford starting on September 10. India is leading the series 2-1.
