Christian Pulisic admitted that the 2022-23 season with Chelsea had been a challenge.
The 24-year-old winger had a hugely difficult and disappointing season with Chelsea and it’s no secret that he’s set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The American recorded just 813 minutes in the Premier League after being shoved to the bench following US owner Todd Boehly’s mass spending spree.
And with the domestic season now behind him, Pulisic opened up on his struggles at Chelsea this season while speaking to reporters in California where the United States Men’s National team has been training for their upcoming Nations League games.
‘It’s been a really tough season for me personally and for our team of course at a club level,’ Pulisic said, via ESPN.

‘So, for me it’s just about coming in here and having a fresh start and being able to be a part of a team that hopefully can come out and win some games.’
‘So, I’m really excited to be here and just to get some minutes on the field and just get back to being that confident player that I know I can be in and just find my footing again and just enjoying the game because it feels like it’s been tough to do that lately.’
The United States will be playing Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal on June 15th, and either the final or third place game shortly after.
‘Obviously, it’s been an interesting journey at club level for me. I thought it was a great couple years and the last couple years just haven’t gone at all how I’ve planned them to be,’ Pulisic said.
‘And right now my focus is obviously here with the national team. I’m just excited to get back playing and just enjoy myself and do what I love to do out on the field. And from there, this summer, we’re obviously going to have to see what happens.’
Pulisic has been linked with a list of clubs in both Serie A and throughout the Premier League as of late. Recent rumors have pointed to Juventus as the favorites to land ‘Captain America.’
However, despite the countless opinions by both experts and fans who insist he must leave Chelsea for his own good Pulisic is not paying a large amount of attention to the transfer rumors that constantly circulate around his name amid Chelsea’s massive clear-out.
‘I don’t keep any social media on my phone anymore so I probably don’t see as much as you guys think I do. I don’t know what’s going on,’ Pulisic said.

‘People will text me sometimes and be like, ‘you’re going here?’ And I’ll be like, ‘I didn’t even know that.’ So, they know more than me most of the time.’
‘But I’m good man. My family is healthy and blessed. […] I’m happy to be here with the boys. I’m great and I’m excited to play with these guys this week.’
Pulisic’s time at the west London club has been hindered by injuries, unable to really nail down a regular place in the starting XI, and the most recent season was no different.
He netted just one goal and provided two assists in 30 appearances. He started just eight times in the Premier League as he fell out of favor.
Pulisic was booed on to the pitch by Chelsea fans during their final game of the season last month.
He came off the substitutes’ bench with just minutes left, replacing Noni Madueke, but was jeered by some sections of the home support in the 1-1 tie with Newcastle.
It left Chelsea all the way down in 12th to bring the curtain down on their turbulent 2022-23 campaign – the first season under the ownership of Boehly.
