Chicago Bears chairman George McCaskey does NOT want the franchise on Hard Knocks, suggesting there are ‘thirty-one other’ teams with ‘compelling stories to tell’
Chicago Bears chairman George McCaskey has no interest in seeing the NFC North franchise on HBO’s Hard Knocks.
Matt Eberflus’ team qualifies for the behind-the-scenes NFL docuseries, and naturally are a team of great interest due to the sheer size of the Bears’ popularity and its burgeoning quarterback, Justin Fields.
Notwithstanding that, McCaskey is not interested in seeing his franchise on the show.
‘We feel there are a number of teams that have compelling stories to tell on ‘Hard Knocks,’ he told The Athletic.
When asked if the Bears were in the aforementioned equation, McCaskey replied ‘Thirty-one others.’

Chicago is one of four NFL teams who are eligible to be on the show; New Orleans, the New York Jets and Washington Commanders are the other three who could feature.
None of the franchises are able to decline if chosen by the league for the program.
Teams who have a first-year head coach, have made the playoffs in the previous two seasons or have appeared on Hard Knocks in the last decade are exempt.
Of this year’s teams, the New York Jets seem like the obvious choice given its largely talented roster and the seemingly imminent arrival of four-time league MVP, Aaron Rodgers.
Though, Chicago would be an interesting watch for factors mentioned above, alongside the addition of star wideout D.J. Moore to the mix alongside a haul of draft picks.
The Bears received Moore, the No. 9 pick, a second-round pick, a 2024 first-rounder and a 2025 second-rounder.
Last season, the Arizona Cardinals were part of a special in-season version, whereas Detroit were on the usual training camp iteration.
