Chelsea ANNOUNCE signing of goalkeeper Hannah Hampton on three-year deal after Aston Villa departure

Chelsea have announced the signing of goalkeeper Hannah Hampton on a three-year deal.

The ex-Aston Villa star joins after her contract in the Midlands expired at the end of last season.

Chelsea confirmed that the shot-stopper has joined on a contract until 2026, arriving on a free transfer.

When speaking about her arrival, Hampton expressed her delight as she said: ‘I’m very excited! It’s a massive club, it’s an honour to be a part of this and to be able to wear the club’s badge. 

‘I want to keep improving, to help the team however I can and I’d love to win some trophies with the club at the same time.’

Her joy was shared by Chelsea boss Emma Hayes, who described the 22-year-old as one of the best young goalkeepers in world football.

Hayes said: ‘There is no doubt that Hannah is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. 

‘Her performances have been improving year on year, and we have high hopes for her future with us.’

The move comes after it was reported that there were concerns over her behaviour and attitude during her time at Aston Villa.

 She was dropped from the England squad last October due to these concerns but won her place back.

Chelsea will be hoping that she can put these claims behind her and make a difference to Hayes’ side going forward.
