‘Cheeky goal’: Oilers’ Hyman scores off his face, and hockey watchers love it

Zach Hyman showed what playoff hockey is all about on Tuesday.

The Edmonton Oilers forward scored a bizarre goal in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Kings when a Evan Bouchard blast from the point went off the side of his face and got past Pheonix Copley to give his team a 5-2 lead in the second period.

Hyman appeared to be trying to turn away from the “Bouch bomb” as he turned his head, but things worked out for the best — if you’re an Oiler fan. The gritty Oilers winger was back for his next shift.

The Oilers, meanwhile, went on to win 6-3 and now lead the series 3-2.

“I’ll take that tradeoff any day for a goal,” Hyman said.
