Marcus Tavernier sealed a 2-1 comeback victory by Middlesbrough on Tuesday night that extended Steve Bruce’s winless start as West Bromwich Albion manager to four games.
The 22-year-old had already provided an assist for Paddy McNair’s second-half equaliser when he arrived unmarked at the far post to fire home Boro’s 69th-minute winner.
Before Tuesday night, promotion-chasing Albion had not scored since January 22 and Bruce had only registered a point from three games since replacing Valerien Ismael at the start of February.

The Baggies’ barren scoring run was at least broken after 28 minutes at the Riverside, when Andy Carroll’s cross was only half cleared and Jayson Molumby squeezed in a deflected shot, before Chris Wilder’s side took control.
The result moves Boro back into the top six and two points ahead of Coventry City, who beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate thanks to an 89th-minute winner from Viktor Gyokeres.
At the other end of the table, Barnsley improved their hopes of avoiding the drop with a 2-0 win at Hull.
Callum Styles and Carlton Morris were on target in the Tykes’ first away win of the season.

And Paul Ince started life as Reading’s interim boss with a 2-1 win over Birmingham City
Paul Ince successfully resumed his managerial career after an absence of more than eight years when the new interim boss of Reading saw his relegation-threatened Championship side win 2-1 over Birmingham.
Ince, the 54-year-old former Manchester United and England midfielder, had not taken charge of a game since leaving Blackpool in January 2014.
Birmingham dominated much of the first half, with Reading attacking only on the break, but neither goal was seriously threatened in a tame affair.
Reading eased 2-0 ahead midway through the second period through Lucas Joao and a John Swift penalty, but a late own goal from Tom McIntyre made for a tense finish.
