CES 2023: Lenevo unveils ThinkBook Plus Twist with OLED and E Ink displays – Times of India
Lenovo, at CES 2023, showcased a new ThinkBook with a twist called ThinkBook Plus Twist. It is a convertible laptop, but unlike other convertibles, it does not detach. It has two fronts — a 13.3-inch OLED and a 12-inch E Ink — that you can swivel either way.
Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Twist will retail in the US and Europe, starting in June, for $1,649 and €1,699, respectively.
If you want to use it for ‘work,’ you have a 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED with a 60Hz refresh rate. But if you are also into reading e-books or even writing, turn the display around, and you have a 12-inch E Ink colour display with a 12Hz refresh rate. The E Ink display gives users options for two modes – a typewriter laptop mode and e-paper mode. You get to use Windows 11 on both sides, with support for a stylus pen. Also, there are webcams on both sides.
ThinkBook Plus Twist replaces the rotating hinge with a twisting one
Unlike a typical rotating hinge, the ThinkBook Plus Twist has a twist hinge that can also rotate, thus the name. The hinge lets you rotate to and from the OLED screen to the colourful E Ink display. You can also use this in a tablet form by simply twisting the display and closing the lit so that the E Ink display faces downward while the OLED stays up.
The ThinkBook Plus Twist comes with up to an Intel 13th gen Core i7 Raptor Lake-U processor, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 solid state storage. There is a scarcity of ports, with just two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. Further, the laptop comes with WiFi 6E connectivity.
Lenovo has not said anything about the battery consumption, but the E Ink display will last about 18 months.
This is not the first time Lenevo has experimented with E-Ink displays. Earlier, it had replaced the keyboard with E Ink on Yoga and also put an e-reader o the Lid of a ThinkBook.
