Centre invites technical experts from G7 nations to test India’s telecom stack

The central government has invited technical experts from G7 countries to test India’s telecom stack on global standards, a government official said, adding that the delegates from these countries showed interest in learning more about the country’s telecom stack.

“India showcased how digital infrastructure is being developed to provide solutions at a population scale. Use cases of Aadhaar, UPI, and Cowin, among other things, were demonstrated in Japan,” the official said.

A meeting of the digital and technology minister of G7 countries was held in Japan on April 29 and April 30 this year in Japan. The Indian delegation was led by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Following his return from Japan, Vaishnaw said that there was “strong global interest from G7 partners in learning about India’s growth journey as a technology leader,” an official said.

G7 is an intergovernmental forum which counts Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the USA apart from India as its members. The 49th meeting of the G7 is scheduled to take place at Hiroshima in Japan later this month between May 19 and 21.
