CBFC member Vivek Agnihotri reveals whether the board had no objection to Adipurush: We don’t watch the film for certification – Times of India

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who is also a member of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), opened up about the controversies surrounding director Om Raut‘s recently released film Adipurush.
When Vivekwas asked if the CBFC committee objected to the various scenes and dialogues in Adipurush or not, he told a news portal that they don’t watch the film for certification. He further added that the film is watched by the common men and women.
He said that he has not watched Adipurush and doesn’t know what happened to film at what stage and who watched it, since he was busy shooting for his upcoming film The Vaccine War. He also said that he doesn’t generally talk about other films and never give an opinion on the film that others are making whether good or bad.
However, Vivek said that one has to be extremely sensitive and responsible while making a film about people’s faith. He said that his beliefs could be different from others and there’s no logic when it comes to the matters of faith and love.

He then cited an example that one doesn’t have to prove a mother wrong if she believes her child is the most beautiful child in the world. He concluded saying that trying to shake that faith to hurt the sentiments and the belief of those people is a sin in itself
Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court has rapped the makers of Adipurush and questioned why they are testing the tolerance of Hindu religion. The bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Shree Prakash Singh said we should be thankful that some people had gone to cinema halls and only forced them to close the hall, adding that they could have done something else as well.
The court also questioned the CBFC board asking them what do they want to teach the future generations. It also questioned the absence of the producer, director and other parties during the hearing.
