News just in from the set of And Just Like That: Carrie Bradshaw is a clog convert. Yes, despite being inseparable from her designer heels on Sex and the City, flitting around Manhattan almost exclusively in Manolos, it seems that in her fifties, Carrie succumbs to a comfy flat every now and again. Albeit a designer one. 

The photos indicate the fashion fiend has welcomed a pair of monogrammed Gucci slip-ons (could this be a collaboration with Birkenstock, purveyors of the unstoppable Boston clog?) into her collection, which she wore with sporty socks, tracksuit bottoms and a fuzzy robe. The outfit was giving impromptu groceries outing—or possibly even dream sequence—but her tousled blonde hair remained as immaculate as ever. 

There may well turn out to be a plot-driven explanation for Carrie’s uncharacteristic footwear choice. Fans will remember she wore a pair of Birkenstock slides in season one of the SATC reboot—but only because she was undergoing hip surgery. Still, it might simply reflect the times we’re living in. Real-life Manhattanites Zoë Kravitz and Katie Holmes have been spied running errands in loungewear and flats, and Birkenstock’s ergonomic Bostons were one of the most in-demand shoes of 2021 and 2022, meaning Carrie is right on trend.
