Buffalo Bills reveal stunning pictures of new $1.4BILLION stadium scheduled to open in fall 2026

Buffalo Bills reveal stunning pictures of its new $1.4BILLION stadium scheduled to open in Orchard Park in the fall 2026 – with work ‘set to start on the project next month’

The Bills have revealed impressive new renderings of their upcoming stadium, which is scheduled to open for the AFC powerhouse in 2026.

The team has played at Highmark Stadium – previously known as Ralph Wilson Stadium – since 1973, and work on Buffalo’s new home will begin in April according to Spectrum News 1.

The new stadium will be a stone’s throw from their current Orchard Park home, on the other side of Abbott Road, and renderings depict a state-of-the-art facility with a sleek outside design.

The pictures show how the stadium will reach a massive height, and have mechanics to prevent wind on the field.

‘The wind comes in and it’s one direction and it knows exactly what it wants to do – go into the stadium and swirl,’ Bills vice president and COO Ron Raccuia told the Buffalo News.

‘What we want to do is have it come in and go through the perforated metal pieces (lining the outside of the stadium). The wind gets confused and the perforations are random and so it starts to block the wind and cut it up and confuse it and then when the wind gets to the canopy, the canopy is pitched in such a way that it actually rides the canopy and doesn’t fall into the stadium so there is no wind swirling going into the stadium.’

The project is set to cost $1.4billion according to Front Office Sports, with New York State committing $600million to the project.

The rest of the funding will come from the team, who are providing $550million while Erie County chips in $250million.

The stadium will also have a large club area to host fans before games.

‘Western New Yorkers like to gather and they like to be together to celebrate,’ Raccuia said. ‘You go to an event, everybody stops at the bar first – they don’t go right to their table.

‘You have a house party and no matter how big the house is, everybody is in the same place (of the house). This stadium will be built for people to gather and enjoy Bills football together.’

The Bills current home, Highmark, holds 71,608 people on the field.

And fans saw a great product in Western New York as the Bills went 7-1 at home en route to another strong regular season.

Behind Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs on offense and Von Miller on defense, the Bills went 13-3 and earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

However, Buffalo’s season ground to a halt with a 27-10 loss to the Bengals in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Despite that disappointing result, however, the Bills’ 2022 will be far more remembered for the near-death of defensive back Damar Hamlin.

Hamlin collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest against the Bengals in Week 17, with the player receiving CPR on the field as he was taken to a hospital and the game was eventually abandoned.

The safety was discharged from the hospital a week after going there and now has eyes on a return to the NFL.
