Buckeyes fans mad at head of Ohio State NIL for teasing C.J. Stroud comeback

The head of Ohio State NIL teased a big announcement on Monday, and Buckeyes fans were upset when they found out it had nothing to do with quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The Ohio State Buckeyes waited for days for an update on quarterback C.J. Stroud. He just finished his junior year and was eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft. One day prior to the Jan. 16 deadline to declare for the draft, Stroud had yet to make a decision. In fact, there was an image surfacing across social media of him liking a direct message about staying at Ohio State for another year.

Ohio State fans were convinced that there was a positive update regarding Stroud on Monday, when the university’s head of NIL (Name Image and Likeness) Brian Schottenstein teased a big announcement. As it turns out, the big announcement wasn’t related to Stroud. Instead, it was Schottenstein revealing that he was expecting to be the father of a baby girl in May.

Schottenstein also received help from former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones, who handed off a football to get spiked, which revealed pink powder.

As for Stroud, he revealed across his social media accounts that he was officially declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ohio State fans were unhappy with head of NIL

Of course, some Ohio State fans were unhappy about Schottenstein’s update not being related to Stroud returning to Columbus.

Stroud was considered to be one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft even before the start of this past season. He certainly helped raise his stock after an impressive performance in the Peach Bowl against the eventual College Football Playoff national champions in the Georgia Bulldogs.

This past season, Stroud threw for 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 66.3-percent of his passes. Stroud also finished third in Heisman voting behind winner Caleb Williams of USC and Max Duggan of TCU.

Now, Stroud will be in line to potentially be the first quarterback selected in the draft, alongside Alabama’s Bryce Young and Kentucky’s Will Levis.

Congratulations to Schottenstein on the big personal announcement.
