Bryson DeChambeau withdraws from PGA Championship after practice round
PGA pro Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from yet another PGA event. This time it is the PGA Championship and he is dropping out after completing his practice round at Southern Hills, less than 24 hours before he would have teed off.
It was previously reported that DeChambeau felt great after his practice round and planned to play in his first event since having surgery on his wrist.
“I’m proud I’ve been able to persevere through it,” DeChambeau told Golf Channel earlier in the day, via ESPN. “I’ve had a lot of stuff going on recently and the game has not been a fun thing for me, so I’m excited to get back and give it another shot. Everybody deserves a second chance.”
Looks like the 28-year-old will have to wait for that second chance after withdrawing from yet another event.
The Modesto, California native has not played in a PGA event since missing the cut at the Masters in April. In addition to the hand/wrist injury, DeChambeau has also dealt with a leg injury. Both were reportedly sustained during a fall.
Injuries aside, DeChambeau is still having a pretty rough season. The former world-ranked No. 4 golfer has missed the cut in three events and his highest placement was a tie for 14th at the Hero World Challenge back in December.
