Bruins’ Pastrnak hits 60-goal mark with hat trick vs. Flyers

Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak became the second NHL player this season to hit the 60-goal mark after scoring a hat trick against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

The Boston forward became just the second Bruin in franchise history to score 60, joining NHL legend Phil Esposito who accomplished the feat four separate times with Boston.

Pastrnak’s milestone night helped him join Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid who scored his 60th goal back on March 22nd. His final goal of the game was also the 300th goal of the 26-year-old’s career.

With Pastrnak and McDavid both hitting the 60-goal mark this season, it is the first time since 1995-96 that two players accomplished the feat in the same year. In 1995-96 it was Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr who both hit 60.

Pastrnak also picked up an assist, bringing his season total to 60 goals and 109 points, both career highs.

He trails only McDavid (64) in goals and sits fourth in the NHL in points.

Pastrnak became the 23rd player in NHL history to reach the 60-goal mark.

Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy lead the way with the most 60-goal seasons, accomplishing the feat five times each.

The Bruins went on to win the game 5-3, setting an NHL record with their 63rd win — the most ever in a single season.
