Brother of Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer ‘died in a car crash’ during first-round series loss to Heat, it is revealed, as friend and former colleague, Lakers’ Darvin Ham, shares grief with reporters: ‘I love those guys’
The Bucks’ Mike Budenholzer coached the last two games of Milwaukee’s season with a heavy heart, as one of his brothers died in a car crash prior to Game 4.
Budenholzer did not disclose the tragedy during the series, but Lakers coach Darvin Ham – who worked as an assistant under him in Milwaukee – revealed the news ahead of LA’s Game 6 on Friday night.
‘Coach Bud is going through a lot on a personal level,’ Ham said.
‘He just lost his brother, so, my apologies Bud if I wasn’t supposed to let anybody know. He and I’ve been texting. I love those guys.’
Budenholzer confirmed the news to The Athletic through a team spokesman.
DailyMail.com has yet to receive confirmation of the news from a Bucks spokesman.
Budenholzer is one of seven children in his family.
Milwaukee’s season ended on Wednesday as it fell to the Heat in five games.
