Brits enjoy strong day at Nottingham Open as Andy Murray follows Katie Boulter, Jodie Burrage and Heather Watson into the semi-finals

British women’s tennis received a boost yesterday as Katie Boulter, Jodie Burrage and Heather Watson reached the semi-finals in Nottingham before Andy Murray joined them in the men’s singles.
Murray beat Dominic Stricker of Switzerland 7-6, 7-5 to make it to the semis as the 36-year-old Scot chases his second successive grass title after winning in Surbiton last week.
‘It should be a fun weekend for British fans,’ said the world No 44, who is chasing a Wimbledon seeding.
‘It’s rare that we’ve had this many at the latter stages of events. Enjoy it!’
With no one inside the world’s top 100, yesterday was a shot in the arm for Britain’s leading ladies.

British number one Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage are also into the last four
Ranked 126th, Boulter is British No 1 after overtaking the injured Emma Raducanu and she beat compatriot Harriet Dart 6-3, 7-5.
Burrage and Watson both overcame higher-ranked opponents in Poland’s Magdalena Frech and Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland respectively.
It is the first time since 1975 that three British women are through to the last four of the same WTA Tour event. Boulter said: ‘I think we’ve shown this week there’s a lot of depth in British tennis.’
