Brighton: Solly March signs new deal that could keep the in-form winger at the club until 2027

Solly March signs new deal with Brighton that could keep the in-form winger at the club until 2027 to the delight of manager Roberto De Zerbi… as the Seagulls boss rewards him for a superb season so far

  • The 28-year-old is a regular fixture in Roberto De Zerbi’s in-form Brighton side
  • March joined Brighton in 2011 and made his debut in the 2013/14 season
  • Brighton will face Grimsby in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday

Ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final this weekend, Brighton and Hove Albion have received a boost with their in-form winger Solly March signing a brand new contract on Friday.

The deal will keep the English player in Brighton until 2026, with an optional one-year extension that the club can choose to exercise.

The 28-year-old has been in blistering form for his club, who are flying under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who joined the club in the wake of Graham Potter’s exit for Chelsea in September of last year.

March scored the winner in Brighton’s last match against Crystal Palace, and was heavily involved in Jack Harrison’s own goal that put Brighton ahead in their eventual 2-2 draw with Leeds the weekend before that.

Proving himself as a vital piece in Brighton’s puzzle, in his last twelve appearances for the club, the one-club midfielder has scored a staggering seven goals.

The Seagulls could look like serious contenders for European football next season in the wake of a sputtering of form at Newcastle and inconsistent spells at Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

Upon March’s contract signing, his coach De Zerbi, who joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk, shared his delight that the deal had been struck.

‘It’s great news. Solly deserves this new contract. We are all happy for him and I am happy for him because I want all the great players to stay with me,’ the Italian manager joked.

His comment could be read pointedly, following reports that despite his recent signing of his own new four-year contract, transfer rumours still swirl around standout midfielder Moises Caicedo.

March has spent his entire professional career at the coastal club, having joined in 2011 from Lewes.

After making his debut in the 2013/14 season, March’s 266-match spell included the Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

Brighton have the opportunity to hunt down silverware as well as a place against European opposition this season, should they defeat Grimsby on Sunday at the Amex.
