Veteran AFL commentator Brian ‘BT’ Taylor has left his colleague in stitches with his anecdotes about his ‘feral’ pet cat that he can’t remember the name of.
While the Sydney Swans played champagne AFL footy to smash the Richmond Tigers on Thursday night, the Triple M’s AFL commentary team strayed onto other kinds of felines.
The team were sharing stories about their pets when it came to Taylor’s turn to discuss the two pet cats he owns with his wife.
One he could remember easily, Tiger, he told the team as Swans star Isaac Heeney slotted his third goal.
But then things got hilarious as he battled to remember the name of his other pet.
‘It’s called Tiger, strangely,’ he told the team about his first cat.
‘And the other one, yeah, I don’t really call it because it’s incontinent.’
The entire Triple M Footy commentary team cracks up as Brian Tayler (black t-shirt) regales them with a yarn about his cat with incontinence
The team cracked up laughing and Taylor was asked: ‘Is it incontinent because you don’t ever call it and is it because it’s incontinent you can’t name it?’
‘I think we’ve given it a name, I’m not sure but it was a feral when it came to us,’ BT replied.
‘How long have you had it?’ he was asked, ‘oh about 10 years,’ he replied.
At that moment the Swans began an attack and BT went off air.
The ball made its way to big Buddy Franklin who smashed a drop punt toward Heeney and the excited call perfectly described Heeney’s clever work after that.
BT while on air calls his wife for the name of the cat he’s owned for 10 years
Isaac Heeney was potting goals for the Swans while commentator Brian Taylor was phoning his wife asking for the name of his cat
His brilliant play enabled him to pot the maximum and take the Swans at that point out to a 10 points lead.
As the dust settled on the goal, the team turned back to BT, where they found him on the phone to his wife, ‘Pam, what’s the name of our other cat?’ everyone heard him ask.
‘Tinkerbell. Yes,’ he turned to the team, told them, and they were all in stitches still coming to terms with the fact he owned a cat for 10 years but never knew its name.
‘It’s called Tinkerbell, thanks darl.’
He hung up and the commentary continued.
