Bretman Rock, Amelia Gray, and Christine Quinn Came Out to Toast the Launch of the Été Jacquemus Capsule Collection with Saks
From the lavender fields of Provence and the salt flats of Camargue to the beaches of Oahu, Simon Porte Jacquemus is known for seeking out dramatic landscapes to serve as backdrops for his sensual collections. Therefore, when it came to an appropriate venue in Los Angeles to celebrate the exclusive launch of the Jacquemus Éte capsule collection with Saks, there was only one option: the pink-hued, hill-top Flamingo Estate. “It was a coup de couer,” said brand CEO Bastien Daguzan, who co-hosted the intimate dinner with Saks Fashion Director Roopal Patel on Thursday night. “It’s so beautiful, surrounded by nature yet in the middle of the city. It’s not lavender tonight, but it’s kind of like Marseilles comes to L.A.”
Over cocktail hour at sunset, guests including Rickey Thompson, Benito Skinner, Amelia Gray, and Mimi Cuttrell took the opportunity to explore the property’s lush, seven-acre garden and art-filled rooms designed by Paris-based architecture firm Studio KO. Drinks were followed by a Mediterranean-inspired, alfresco six-course culinary experience by chef Thomas Coupeau in collaboration with WE ARE ONA. The long table, festooned with artful arrangements of yellow tulips meanwhile, made a playful nod to the summery collection’s canary yellow colorway.
Sandwiched between between the two weekends of the Coachella, talk over dinner was inevitably about the festival and Jacquemus muse Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance, followed by excitement over the brand’s Saks Beverly Hills immersive installation designed in collaboration with Perron-Roettinger. While a last-minute flight snafu had prevented founder Simon’s appearance at the party, before the evening drew to a close, Daguzan hinted this was just the beginning of Jacquemus’ relationship with the city. “This is the first but not the last time you will see us here,” he said. “We love the vibe of L.A., the mix of cultures, the sunlight, the style, and we think it really relates to us.”
