Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes £40million is a fair price for Spanish shot-stopper David Raya.
Frank ranks Raya among the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and feels he should command a premium price for his services amid interest from Arsenal.
According to the Athletic, The Gunners are exploring a deal to sign Raya to provide competition for current No1 Aaron Ramsdale next season.
Brentford are yet to receive an official bid from Arsenal but are aware of their interest.
‘Like everything it’s a negotiation. I would love to get £40m,’ Frank told assembled media when asked about Raya’s value.
David Raya is keen to leave Brentford this summer and has attracted interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich
Thomas Frank would like to receive no less than £40million for the Spaniard, who he ranks among the best goalkeepers in the league
‘That’s what he’s worth. I think he’s one of the best keepers, he was one of the four best keepers in the Premier League last season, so what is the price?
‘And Kane you’re talking one year left and £150m. The keeper is at his best age I think. But anyway a good thing I am not negotiating. That is for Phil [Giles] and Matthew [Benham] and Arsenal. I just take care of the coaching.’
Although Frank would like to see the situation resolved as quickly as possible he is aware that this is rarely the case.
‘Of course as a coach you want players in as quickly as possible and players you want to sell out as quick as possible, but it’s never like that,’ he added.
‘That’s why we have transfer deadline day and a lot of things going on. We know it’s always complicated, always two sides of the coin and there’s always negotiation. People need to meet somewhere.’
Raya has one year remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium and is expected to leave this summer.
Bayern Munich are also interested in snapping up the 27-year-old and have held initial talks with Brentford.
