Brandin Cooks is traded to the Dallas Cowboys, as Texans get a fifth and sixth-round pick in exchange for nine-year veteran wide receiver

Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks has been traded to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick, according to reports.

Cooks, 29, has played in the league for nine years, spending the last two seasons at the Texans – for whom he played 13 times in 2022.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the trade on Sunday, which will see the Cowboys bolster its receiving ranks as they bid to reach the Super Bowl in 2023.

Cooks was drafted by the Saints 20th overall in the 2014 draft, and he played in New Orleans for three seasons before being traded to the New England Patriots in 2017.

In the trade, the Saints got a 2017 first-round pick, as well as multiple second and thirds. Cooks is due to earn $18million guaranteed in 2023.
