Filipino super-flyweight contender Jade Bornea’s ear ‘exploded’ during his world title clash with Fernando Martinez on Saturday night.
Boxing fans were left horrified as a ringside camera was splattered with Bornea’s blood in a truly stomach-churning moment.
The 28-year-old’s right ear began to swell up throughout the fight as it was repeatedly hammered by an onslaught of left hooks from Martinez.
In the ninth round, as the damage piled up, it eventually burst open covering the ring ropes and a nearby camera lens in a sea of claret.
Even promotional outfit PBC were shocked by the gruesome injury. They wrote on their official Twitter account: ‘Jade Bornea’s ear just… exploded? Blood is literally pouring down the side of Bornea’s face, spraying on the glass of the camera.’
