Borussia Dortmund have decided against re-signing Jadon Sancho as they already have 17-year-old wonderkid Julien Duranville. Therefore, they have have turned their attention to securing the services of Weston McKennie instead.
Sancho – who joined Manchester United from Dortmund two years ago for a fee of £73million – had been linked with a return to the Bundesliga giants.
However, the winger has struggled for consistency during his time at Old Trafford – causing Dortmund to look elsewhere during the summer transfer window.
As a result, Dortmund have turned their attention to US international McKennie after watching him develop in Serie A and the Premier League – according to Bild.
Dortmund are also confident in Duranville’s ability to make a splash next season after signing the youngster on a long-term deal last season.

The US international’s arrival at Dortmund would prevent Sancho from returning to the club
McKennie recently returned to Juventus after a six-month loan spell at Leeds United – who ended up being relegated from Premier League.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the negotiations between Dortmund and McKennie are said to be advancing well.
McKennie performed well during his time with the Juve first team but struggled to cement a place in the starting XI under Massimiliano Allegri.
It’s also common knowledge that the Italian side are looking to offload players in the summer transfer market and could be open to parting ways to McKennie as a result.
McKennie made 96 appearances for Juventus, scoring 13 goals and registering five assists before being shipped out on loan.
His last game for the Serie A side came in January when he played a full 90 minutes in Juve’s victory over Atalanta.
McKennie will be eager to secure more regular first team football and Dortmund could provide him with that opportunity.
Dortmund also believe 17-year-old wonderkid Julien Duranville will provide more for them than Sancho would.
The 17-year-old has represented Belgium at U19 level and turned out for Anderlecht’s senior side on 10 occasions, even playing 45 minutes against West Ham last summer.
Coming out of Anderlecht’s famed academy – which has produced the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Dries Mertens and Vincent Kompany – it’s no wonder Duranville has attracted interest.
Nicknamed ‘Blitz’ for his electrifying pace and dribbling, Duranville is expected to make an impact during the 2023-2024 campaign.

The US international’s arrival at Dortmund would prevent Sancho from returning to the club this summer.
The news will come as a blow to Sancho – who has struggled to cement his place in the Manchester United first XI following his arrival two years ago.
In total Sancho has played 79 times for the Red Devils and scored 12 goals. However, the 23-year-old has continued to fall down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old has also struggled to cement his place in the Three Lions squad, with his last call up coming in October 2021.
Additionally, United are looking to make big name departures this summer as they look to generate more funds for Erik ten Hag to spend in the transfer market.
Therefore, his future at the Premier League side remains up in the air.
