Toronto Blue Jays fans at Rogers Centre think Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña took his time running around the basepaths.
After losing the first two games of their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays north of the border, Ronald Acuña and the Atlanta Braves had a sense of urgency heading into Sunday’s contest.
Acuña took Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi deep on just his third pitch of the game. As Atlanta’s resident leadoff hitter, Acuña is one of the most dangerous players in baseball. He’s a five-tool player, and one of those is his elite power.
Not only did Acuña stop and watch his home run land in the second deck, but he celebrated while going around the bases. This is nothing new with Acuña and the Braves, as they often make it a point to celebrate with each other. As one of the best lineups in all of baseball, it’s tough to blame them.

Ronald Acuña’s home run went 421 feet into the second deck in Toronto. The exit velocity was over 114 mph off the bat, and it was the 28th leadoff home run of Acuña’s career.
It’s curious that Acuña takes his time running around the bases after a homer, as any other time he’s on the basepaths he’s a nuisance to opposing pitchers. Acuña leads the league in stolen bases, and is on pace for 32 home runs and 69 steals on the year. Were he to go on a role and finish the campaign with over 40 home runs to pair with his stolen bases, he could become just the fifth player to have a 40/40 season.
Toronto fans weren’t too happy about Acuña’s antics, but they’re not exactly innocent in this matter. Remember Jose Bautista?
Yeah, me too. Acuña can take as long as he wants.
