JOHANNESBURG – There were mixed reactions on Tuesday when Netflix announced that the fourth season of Blood and Water was in production.

Streaming giant Netflix shared a video on their pages announcing that another season of the thriller was currently in production.

In the video, Khosi Ngema, who plays Fikile Bhele, starts a game of broken telephone in which she says: “Production for Blood & Water season 4 is officially underway. Class has begun.”

Award-winning South African director, Nosipho Dumisa, leads a talented cast of teens in this tense mystery-drama series.

The series, which also stars Ama Qamata, Khosi Ngema, Gail Mabalane, is about a Cape Town teen who sets out to prove that a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth.

The new season of Blood & Water has split opinions, with fans in one of two camps: those who are ecstatic and those who think the storyline is now boring. As a result of their older appearance, some viewers noted that the cast should be out of high school by now.
