Black Panther: Wakanda Forever box office: Marvel movie earns 14 crores on Day 2, beats Uunchai and Thai Massage with ease – Times of India

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been a highly-anticipated movie the world over, but for Indian fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the reasons have been all emotional. Since the franchise lead Chadwick Boseman passed away in August 2020 fans have been waiting to see what will become of their beloved superhero Black Panther. That excitement seems to have paid off for the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster. Wakanda Forever has shown a growth of 15 to 20 percent in its collections on Saturday, a very good sign for any theatrical film, Hollywood or Indian.

The film starring Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Michael B Jordan, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o did fantastic business of Rs 14 crore nett on Saturday taking its two-day box office total in India to Rs 25.50 crore nett. Experts feel if the movie maintains the same growth, it will easily cross the 40-crore mark after Sunday. While some optimists feel the figure could even touch an impressive 50 crores.

According to Box Office India, the film witnessed encouraging growth on Saturday from metro markets. But the massy circuits and b-centres had flat-lined. A report published on the portal read, “The film will be a success but there have been three Hollywood films that have hit the 100 crore nett mark post the pandemic and that should be the target for Wakanda Forever…”

To achieve this target, director Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda Forever will need to post strong numbers on Sunday followed by a marginally small dip on Monday. If the film manages to post respectable numbers over the weekdays, it would well push into the 100-crore club by its second weekend or even the second week. Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther had earned Rs 53 crores from India back in 2018.

The film received positive reviews all-round and it earned Rs 11. 75 crores on Friday followed by Rs 13.75 crores on Saturday. Interestingly the Disney-Marvel movie beat Hindi releases like Uunchai and Thai Massage on its first day with consummate ease.
