‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ box office collection Day 3: Ryan Coogler directorial records a ‘good’ first weekend – Times of India
According to a report on boxofficeindia.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 13.75 crore on Sunday. The superhero movie kicked off its box office run with a collection of Rs 11.75 crore and earned Rs 13.75 crore on Saturday. The movie managed to maintain its hold on Sunday, thus setting it up for an estimated Rs 40 crore weekend.
The film earned well across the Hindi belts, although the Hindi dubbed version of the film performed average at the box office. While the movie did score a good weekend collection, it is far behind the collections earned by other Marvel superhero films that made a big splash during the first three days and saw a gradual decline in collections in the week that followed.
It remains to be seen how ‘Wakanda Forever’ performs but even if there is a drop in numbers, it is expected to perform well and set itself up for a successful run at the Indian box office.
The film needs to maintain its hold over the box office on Monday for it to sail through the rest of the week and become a HIT.
Meanwhile, at the international box office, ‘Wakanda Forever’ earned $180 million in ticket sales from more than 4,396 theatres in the U.S. and Canada. It thus recorded the second biggest opening of the year behind ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Overseas, it brought in an additional $150 million from 50 territories, bringing its worldwide total to $330 million.
