Birthday Special: When Salman Khan asked Sooraj Barjatya not to cast him in Maine Pyar Kiya – Times of India

One of the most lovable stars of Bollywood, Salman Khan turns 57 today. The actor, who has had a long and successful stint at the movies has always managed to have a loyal fan base and has never followed any mantra for success.

However, do you know that the actor, best known for his iconic character Prem in Rajshri movies, almost didn’t do the 1989 blockbuster
Maine Pyar Kiya?

In an old interview to Rediff.com, the
Dabangg actor said that after doing a supporting role in
Biwi Ho To Aisi, he felt that this was his first and last film.

He then called Sooraj Barjatya and told him not to cast him in
Maine Pyar Kiya because Rajshri had invested a lot of money on it and the
Tiger Zinda Hai actor was not sure that he can pull through the role. However, Sooraj, who had earlier seen him in
Biwi Ho To Aisi was confident that he was perfect for the part. The rest, as they say is history!

Salman also added that his plan was to earn a couple of lakhs through acting and go back to writing and modelling, but destiny had something else in mind.

On the workfront, Salman Khan is readying for the release of the highly anticipated
Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma. The film is set to release next year.
