Bipasha Basu: My body has changed as I am transforming into a mother; I want to flaunt it because this is not going to be there forever – Exclusive – Times of India

Bipasha Basu recently took the internet by storm when she announced her pregnancy with a stunning maternity photoshoot. In conversation with ETimes, Bipasha talks about the thought and the team behind the photoshoot that also features Karan Singh Grover, maternity photoshoots catching up as a trend on social media, the trolling that comes with flaunting the baby bump and more…

Your maternity photoshoot became the talk of the town. What was the thought process behind it?

When we did the maternity shoot, the idea was to celebrate that now we are three. And yes, we wanted to give prominence to my baby bump. Because that’s my baby’s home. And I find it extremely cute, women with baby bumps. So, there was not a plan as such because we had Prasad Naik who’s one of the best photographers. Rocky is my brother and an amazing stylist and designer. We had Anil Chinnappa for make-up and Kaushal for hair. We had a wonderful team and the pictures were just supposed to be organic. We wanted a picture which would just basically show the love that we have between the three of us.

Maternity photoshoots on social media have become a popular trend, and celeb photoshoots have had a huge influence…

For us, the announcement of having a baby and sharing this wonderful news with the people who love us naturally had to happen on our platform. It’s not done because it’s a popular trend or anything. It’s just that when there’s a major announcement, professional or personal, from the time social media has started, we have our own platform to say what we want to say and connect with our audiences. I really think that it has become a popular trend. I just believe that it’s a beautiful time where a woman is going through a lot of transformation and magic is being made inside her belly. So, if couples want to keep that memory and show it to they’re child once it is born, it’s a beautiful moment to capture.

There was a time when flaunting a baby bump was a big no-no. Even today, when actresses share their pictures, they receive some flak. How does one deal with such negativity?

In life, everyone is entitled to an opinion and all opinions are respected. But I’m leading my life. And I will always focus on the 99% good rather than 1% negativity. That’s the way to move on in life. You can’t be deciding everything that you do or say on the basis of what people want you to do or say. I lived my life like that. I’m a body positive person. I believe that you have to love the body you live in. My philosophy in life is to love yourself and it’s all around the magic of having this beautiful body as a machine. If you don’t keep this body healthy, you’re not going lead a happy life. So, a lot of focus is on the body. At this beautiful stage of life when I’m transforming into a mother and my body had changed, I want to celebrate it. I still want to live myself. I still want to flaunt it. Because this is not going to be there forever. I’d rather focus on the positivity around me and I get a lot of love from fans, media, people from the business and everyone else. I feel overwhelmed with the love and wishes that have come my way.
