Bills’ Damar Hamlin reacts to Bronny James’ cardiac arrest
Damar Hamlin tweeted a message in support of Bronny James and his family Tuesday morning, shortly after news came out that the 18-year-old suffered cardiac arrest on Monday.
The scary incident happened Monday when the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James was practicing. Bronny will begin his freshman season at USC this year.
“Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” a statement from a James family spokesperson said, per ESPN. “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
According to an ESPN report, Bronny is ranked 20th in the 2023 ESPN 100 rankings. The teenager is the sixth-rated point guard in the class of 2023.
LBJ is 38 years old and has been saying for months, if not years, that he plans to stay in the league until he can share an NBA court with Bronny. As he approached Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record this past winter, James went as far as to say that he planned to play for “at least a few more years.”
Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during the Buffalo Bills’ Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals in early January. In May, the 25-year-old was cleared by doctors to resume football activities and in June, he was a full participant in practice for the first time since the winter incident.
