Bettman: ‘More than a dozen parties’ interested in buying Senators, met with Reynolds

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said on Tuesday that “more than a dozen parties” have expressed interest in acquiring the Ottawa Senators.

These parties, Bettman said, have signed non-disclosure agreements to receive access to the data room in order to review the team’s books. That data room will be opening “soon.”

Bettman, who was speaking as part of the NHL board of governors meetings, added that the bidding process would commence “after the first of the year.”

Bettman also confirmed that he and deputy commissioner Bill Daly met with Ryan Reynolds.

“Bill and I met with Ryan Reynolds, who very much impressed us,” Bettman said. “If we can figure out a way to have him included I think that great for the Senators and I think that would great for the league.”

The Hollywood star and entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds has been very vocal about his interest to acquire the Sens. He even showed up for a game at Canadian Tire Centre back on Nov. 8 and received an ovation.
