After two “incomplete” NBA seasons, you want to go all-in on 2021 — and that starts with a funny/clever/good fantasy basketball team name. Sure, dominating your draft thanks to our positional and overall rankings, list of must-have sleepers and breakouts, and comprehensive cheat sheet is all well and good, but until you find the best fantasy team name…well, your season isn’t even ready to begin.
As we say every year, our list doesn’t contain all of the “best fantasy basketball team names.” In order to do that, we’d need more inappropriate phrases and inside jokes that we couldn’t possibly publish here — you know, stuff that only others in your league understand (or won’t cancel you over). Instead, we just have a bunch of puns based on players’ names. Some are decent (“Rock ’em, Siakem Robots”, “Ingles All The Way,” “You Can’t Randle The Truth”); many are terrible (“Implicit Tobias”, “Wham, Bam, Thank You Ma’am”); and a lot you won’t get (“Boogie Towns Productions”). No bother. We’re volume shooters. Think of us as D’Angelo Russell. They’re not all gonna hit bottom, but the ones that do…man, those look good. And “There’s Always Room For D’Angelo.” (Splash!)

Ultimately, the goal of this list isn’t necessarily to provide you with a slam dunk. It’s to inspire you because you can definitely do better — kind of like how players now feather out to the three-point line instead of the filling the lane and go toward the hoop on fast breaks. Threes are worth more than twos, so don’t just take our “layups.” Do you own thing, be smart, and hit a three.
Start your season like that, and you’ll complete it with a fantasy title…or make your friends slightly smirk, which is the true mark of a champion.
