Bella Hadid’s Latest Outfit Pays Homage to Martin Scorsese
Whether she’s pulling out coveted vintage or wearing the latest designer to know, Bella Hadid keeps her wardrobe full of surprises—especially when she’s off-duty. This weekend, as Hadid volunteered at New York’s Bowery Mission, she wore an outfit that paid homage to director Martin Scorsese and his seminal 1976 film, Taxi Driver. Dressed in a puffer jacket from Arben and Kuj Durollari’s label Bond, she turned heads on the streets of Manhattan as she headed out on Sunday.
The design is part of the first drop from Bond’s Taxi Driver collection, and features an image of Robert De Niro as his troubled character, Travis Bickle. The still—an extreme closeup of Bickle during the story’s climax—made for a dramatic, albeit gory, print. Hadid kept the rest of her outfit subdued to ensure all eyes were focused on her outwear, adding on a tartan print Burberry purse, black workwear pants, and a pair of chunky-soled black oxfords.
Bella’s jacket was striking, but she’s not the only member of her family with an appreciation for Bond and Scorsese. In December of 2020, her younger brother Anwar was spotted wearing the same coat while walking in the East Village. Adding on black jeans and Adidas high tops, his take on the look was in sync with his sister’s, and his connection to the brand runs deep. Friends with the brothers Durollari and one of the faces of the line, Anwar is front and center on their site.
Wearing fashions that reference iconic New York films while hanging out in the city is nice, but fashion wasn’t the focus of Bella’s day. She and boyfriend Marc Kalman spent their Sunday at the Bowery mission volunteering in its men’s shelter and soup kitchen. That evening she took to Instagram to highlight the organization and praise its place in history. “143 years in service!” Hadid wrote in her post. “New York legends!”
