‘Bell Bottom’ box office day 1: Akshay Kumar’s spy thriller earns 2.75 crore – Times of India
Akshay Kumar essays the lead in this spy thriller directed by Ranjit Tewari. ‘Bell Bottom’ recorded the best collections for NCR, Kolkatta and Chandigarh circuits. East Punjab fetched Rs 46 lakhs nett while West Bengal added Rs 28 lakhs nett to the film’s total collection and Delhi / UP earned 75 lakhs nett. Central India markets of CPCI Raj earned Rs 30 lakhs nett as cinemas were mostly shut in these circuits.
Commenting on the risk of releasing ‘Bell Bottom’ amid several restrictions, Akshay had told PTI, “The pressure is there on everybody but I’m very sure that things are going to work out. There’s a challenge, a risk. But if you haven’t taken the risk in life, then what have you done? So we have gone with it. In this journey, I have my producers who have also taken the risk and that’s how we have proceeded.” While taking about theatres being shut in Maharashtra, Akshay had added, “It is a gamble and someone had to take this gamble. We have taken this leap and I’m confident that this is going to work.”
