Bayern Munich ‘join the race’ to sign Liverpool target Khephren Thuram from Nice

Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the race to sign Liverpool target Khephren Thuram this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with a move for the Nice midfielder throughout the summer window, with a fee of around £52m previously being touted for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The Reds confirmed their second signing of the summer on Sunday as Dominik Szoboszlai joined Alexis Mac Allister in arriving at Anfield – and Klopp is keen to add to his ranks as he continues his overhaul of the squad.

It is believed the Reds are keen to sign one more midfielder this summer, though it looks as though they will face stiff competition if they want to sign the son of legendary French defender Lilian. 

L’Equipe have reported that Bayern Munich have made contact with the Nice star over a potential move this summer.

Liverpool completed a £60m move for RB Leipzig forward Dominik Szoboszlai on Sunday

It’s added that while they have contacted the the French Under 21 international, they are yet to make contact with Nice.

Liverpool are also claimed to have met with relatives of Thuram, though, they too have not made an offer to the Ligue 1 side.

Any move for Thuram could start to pick up pace after France were knocked out of the U21 European Championships by Ukraine on Sunday.

Liverpool have already spent £95m this summer following the additions of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

It has been a successful summer for the Reds so far who were in dire need of a midfield rebuild after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.

Thuram though is just one of several midfielders that the Reds have been linked with that they could pursue.

Thuram made 48 appearances across all competitions for Nice in the 2022-23 season

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone have also been heavily linked.

Reports on Monday claimed that Liverpool were looking to steal a march on their rivals by preparing a bid for the £50m rated Lavia. 

Interest in Thuram comes off an excellent season for the midfielder at Nice, where he made 48 appearances across all competitions. 

Following Szoboszlai’s signing, Thuram fueled transfer speculation by liking a post on why the Hungarian has a tattoo that is inspired by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. 

Bayern Munich meanwhile have also made two signings this summer, with Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerriero joining on free transfers from rivals RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
