Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor to have a direct to digital release in October: Reports | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Nitesh Tiwari helmed Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, is one of the most awaited movies of the year. In a surprising turn of events however, the movie, reportedly based around the World War will now have a direct to digital release on a leading OTT platform in October.

According to an entertainment portal source, the decision was taken in consultation with all the stakeholders, including director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and actors Janhvi Kapoor and VarunDhawan.

According to the source, the movie is an ambitious one, but does not have the usual Bollywood trappings of sound and music. In such a scenario, it was decided that it would be better to release the movie on an OTT channel, since it can reach a wider audience. The source also added that the movie is a bit of ‘poetry in motion’ that in all possibility, will do better on OTT.Last year, Janhvi had shared some BTS pictures from the sets and wrote a thank you note for the entire team, announcing the wrap up on the film. A part of her note read, “From stalking Nitesh sir and Sajid sir to make sure i get this film, to praying obsessively that it happens, to pinching myself everyday that I’m actually shooting for it, to having finally wrapped it. I still can’t believe that I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of this wholesome, heartfelt world that Nitesh sir has created. I’ve learnt so much from you sir, so much about films and making movies with love but more about the value in being a person that leads their life with such dignity and honest values.”
