Babil Khan says working on Qala was catharsis after dad Irrfan Khan’s demise, reveals the role was challenging – Times of India

To lose one’s father at any age is heartbreaking, but when you are young and just starting out, only to have your dad pass away suddenly is one of life’s most painful tragedies. Actor Babil Khan, who started shooting for his debut movie Qala, a few months after dad Irrfan Khan’s death says that he used his emotional space as an outlet for his character in the period drama.

In an interview to indianexpress.com, Babil says that he was in an extremely ‘vulnerable’ space post his father’s demise. Adding that while he was picking up the broken pieces of his life, his debut movie more or less became his catharsis, wherein he increasingly found himself venting out, eventually using his emotionally turbulent state of mind to perform better.

Elaborating on the same, Babil says that because of his emotional state, his character Jagan became more close to his heart since he was able to empathise and understand him better. Eventually, his vision came alive on screen and he was able to portray Jagan flawlessly.

Qala, co-starring Tripti Dimri is directed by Anvita Dutt Guptan. The film’s music is composed by Amit Trivedi and the musical drama will release on Netflix tomorrow, December 1.
