Babar Azam is bowled round his legs by a stunner: Watch video

The opening Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Galle has seen some fine spin bowling from both sides. The latest bit of beautiful bowling to come out of it is one produced by left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya to dismiss star Pakistani batsman Babar Azam for 55.

Coming in from over the wicket, Jaysuriya pitched it up in the rough far outside right-handed Azam’s leg stump. The Pakistani batter stretched forward and offered his front pad, but the ball spun around his legs to rattle the stumps. A ripper, if ever there was one.

Azam was stunned, he looked back and forth at where the ball pitched and where it hit, and Jayasuriya broke into a celebration.

Azam, currently ranked number one in ODIs and T20Is and fourth in Tests by the ICC, was in fine form scoring 119 in the first innings and 55 in the second.

Despite Azam’s dismissal, Pakistan were still in a strong position on the fourth day of the Galle Test, thanks to a gritty century by opener Abdullah Shafique

Chasing 340 to win, Pakistan ended the day on 222 for 3, still needing 120 to go one-up in the two-match series.
