Ayan Mukerji to make separate films on ‘Jalastra’ and ‘Vanarastra’: Report – Times of India

Ayan Mukerji is on a roll! His latest directorial ‘Brahmastra’ has struck gold at the box office and he is already working on future spin offs and sequels to the sci-fi drama.

Ayan has grand plans as far as the ‘Brahmastra’ franchise is concerned. With the movie clocking over Rs 300 crore at the box office, Ayan has decided to explore the Astraverse with separate films based on ‘Jalastra’ and ‘Vanarastra’, reports India Today. These spin offs will explore the origin of the astras and will reportedly feature Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor too. ‘Brahmastra’ was planned as a trilogy and the second part is reportedly titled ‘Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev’. Speaking about the future films from the franchise, Ayan had previously said, “The entire trilogy will tell the same story but the next movies will introduce new characters and bring new perspectives to the Brahmastra story.”

Speaking about the overwhelming success of ‘Brahmastra’, Ranbir Kapoor had said, “I feel the overwhelming love from the audience for the film is the biggest Brahmastra we have. I am extremely happy and proud, for receiving these reactions. I really want to say thank you to every fan and viewer from the bottom of my heart. I think, this is a great movie to bring the audience back to cinemas. This is all we needed. People with displaying their emotions, getting entertained, laughing and clapping – this is what cinema is all about.”
