Avatar – The Way Of Water officially crosses $1B at the global box office – Times of India

Erik Davis, author, writer and journalist recent tweeted, “James Cameron’s #AvatarTheWayOfWater has officially crossed $1B at the global box office & $300M domestically. It now ranks 3rd highest for 2022 & will soon be #2 behind #TopGunMaverick ($1.4B).”

He also added, that the last two films that topped the global box office that weren’t Marvel or Star Wars films was all the way back in 2014 (not including 2020). He tweeted, “MORE: Not including 2020, the last year two films topped the global box office that weren’t Marvel or Star Wars films was all the way back in 2014. That year it was Transformers: Age of Extinction & The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.”

‘The Way of Water’ is the sequel to the first ‘Avatar’, which was released in 2009. The original film went on to become the biggest box office hit in history.
