‘Avatar 2’ beats ‘Dr Strange’ advance booking record as it scores Rs 10 crore – Times of India

The buzz of ‘Avatar : The Way of Water’ is high in India and the audiences are contributing massively to the film’s advance booking. This science fiction drama is expected to have recorded the fastest advance in history for a Hollywood movie, having raked in Rs 10 crore nett by close of business on Monday night, reports boxofficeindia. Interestingly, ‘Dr Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ had also raked in Rs 10 crore nett in advance booking, but it was nine days before release.

‘Avengers Endgame’ holds the highest record in advance booking, which is Rs 65 crore nett, with Rs 50 crore nett being contributed from the Hindi circuits. The present trend suggests that ‘Avatar : The Way of Water’ is unlikely to achieve this total. ‘Avatar 2’ will make its mark as the second highest opener for Hollywood in India, bagging the spot between ‘Avengers Endgame’ which had scored Rs 53 crore nett and ‘Spiderman – No Way Home’ which had earned Rs 33 crore nett.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ features Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver from the first film with Kate Winslet joining them. Speaking about the film’s 3 hour 10 minute runtime, director James Cameron had said, “I don’t want anybody whining about length when they sit and binge-watch (television) for eight hours. I can almost write this part of the review. ‘The agonizingly long three-hour movie’… It’s like, give me a f******break. I’ve watched my kids sit and do five one-hour episodes in a row. Here’s the big social paradigm shift that has to happen, it’s okay to get up and go pee.” He also promised that the film will deliver “three hours of a pretty much insane experience.”
