Author Salman Rushdie attacked during an event on stage in New York – Times of India
As per an AP report, a man stormed the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and began punching or stabbing Rushdie as he was being introduced. The author was taken or fell to the floor, and the man was restrained.
It’s noted that former Booker Prize winner, Salman Rushdie, got years of death threats after his book ‘The Satanic Verses’ was published in the 1988.
Many netizens took to Twitter where they shared this shocking news today. English broadcaster-writer Piers Morgan tweeted, “BREAKING: Author Salman Rushdie, the subject of an ongoing fatwa from Iran over his book ‘Satanic Verses’, sparking many death threats over the years, has been stabbed on stage at the Chautauqua Institution in New York State.”

Journalist Ryan Kelly posted pictures of the man who attacked Rushdie with the caption: ‘Author Salman Rushdie was stabbed after taking stage at a Chautauqua Institute event. He received aid on-site and was able to eventually walk off stage with assistance. This man has been detained by police’.
