The days of cricketers celebrating a hard-earned Test win with a Victoria Bitter appear to be long gone, with the Aussie side instead cracking open a very expensive bottle of wine on Sunday.
Star opener David Warner posted a photo to his social media showing a bottle of Penfolds Grange from 2012 that retails from $950 to $1,200 as he and his victorious teammates sat in what appeared to be the Adelaide Oval changerooms.
Warner captioned the image of one of Australia’s most iconic and celebrated red wines ‘Grange ball’, with the Aussie side seen in the background after a 419-run thrashing of the West Indies that secured a 2-0 series whitewash.
The South Australian wine, which is heritage listed, costs a minimum of $700 usually, but for the 2012 vintage, retailer Dan Murphy’s has it at $949, while a number of specialty cellars list it at $1,199.

VB, which has previously been a sponsor of the Test and limited overs sides, isn’t usually seen in a cricket changeroom after a win these days.
When Australia triumphed at last year’s T20 World Cup, champagne showers and craft beer were the drinks of choice, while Warner’s brewery SAB often makes an appearance.
The 36-year-old is a partner in the Mornington Peninsula-based business alongside superstar jockey Tommy Berry and racing scions the Freedman brothers, and can often be seen spruiking the brand on his social media.

There’s clearly a shifting of the guard when it comes to post-match beverages.
Legendary skipper Ricky Ponting now has his own range of wines that are all named after key moments in his career.
There’s the Pinnacle Cabernet Sauvignon inspired by his Ashes conquests, while Ponting 366 is a nod to his Test cap number, being the 366th player to wear the baggy green.

After the series whitewash against the West Indies, the Australian Test side will now turn their attention to a much stronger opponent: South Africa.
The Gabba, one of Australia’s most popular cricket venues with fans, will no doubt be heaving (unlike Perth), when Pat Cummins and his men welcome the world’s third ranked Test side.
If they beat their bitter rivals, the vintage the boys crack open might be a fair bit older than 2012.
